SGA Senate Meeting Agenda April 11, 2005, 2005 5:00 PM Commonwealth Room I. Call to Order: 5:01 PM II. Welcome III. Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve, 2nd. Passed IV. President’s Report a. Faculty Senate: Discussed passing the resolution on reducing the number of general education credits. Three other proposals are on the table and will be coming next week. b. Dr. Covington’s Reception: Friday 15th from 4-6 PM in the Muse Banquet Room. The first half hour is a meet and greet and then we will have presentations. Please sign the card and the frame as a gift for him from us. c. We have a thinking of you card for Dr. Self, please sign as well d. Graduation cord: Please get them from Kenda e. Board of Visitors: Friday May 6th we will be meeting with the BOV. V. Executive Vice President’s Report a. Awards Banquet is April 20th in Muse Banquet Room at 5:30PM. Please give pictures for the slide show to Amanda Crisp. Dress is semi-formal. Council chairs need to pick up their awards in their boxes VI. Legislative Vice President’s Report a. Please give all constitution suggestions to Shannon whether it is you agree with the Constitution as written or if you want changes made. VII. Vice President of Student Finance Report a. Budget Approved b. One Time Funding Requests: $3,000 for Quad Fest; $4,634 for Radio-free Radford; $1,023 for a digital camera for the Tartan VIII. Cabinet/Staff Reports a. Darren needs reports from Senators b. Dodge ball Tournament will be April 24th from 12-7PM. Have to have a team of 3 girls and 3 boys and cost is $15 and this money goes to Relay-4-Life in honor of Mrs. Covington c. If you please can send your “Tips for Success” for the Quest newsletter to Crystal as soon as possible at chagen@radford.edu IX. Council Reports a. BSAC is having annual cook-out April 21st on the Lawn at 5PM b. LAC will have “Pizza and Politics” next Monday (18th) in Cook 107 c. International week starts next Monday (18th) d. OCSC-the candidates applications are due Friday by 5PM and you can accept donations till the 18th. The dance is Saturday 23rd from 8-11PM in the Ballroom. Clean with the Dean is the 23rd as well. X. Committee Reports a. Planning and Budget Committee: looking into different percentage increases. Next week we will be voting on what the increase should be. Please talk to students about the issues of an increase and whether it should be 7% or 9%. b. Dining Services: Talked about menu changes. Biggest thing is to implement “balanced choices” and to increase a healthy variety of foods c. SFC: discussion of bringing a traveling theater group to Radford for the off-season of The Nutcracker and they would perform A Christmas Carol. The cost would be $20,000 to bring this group.
