SGA Meeting Minutes 10.10.05 I. Call to order 5:04 II. Welcome III. Guests-answered various questions and listened to suggestions students had regarding President Kyle, student policies, law enforcement, greek events, profiling, RU police department, and the lack of alternate night life activities in the city of Radford. A. Mr. Burdette B. Dr. Pomerantz C. Mrs. Casteele-Plans for President Kyle. She is looking forward to meeting and answering questions of students again. She was surprised that there were any issues because she was unaware of them. There will be a more informal forum with President Kyle, emails will be sent with details. IV. Approval of Minutes-passed unanimously V. Presidents Report A. Forum-Stephanie will speak with President Kyle to organize a forum and meet and greet. Emails will be sent tomorrow for help, feedback, and possible times. B. Dedication/Motivation-Keep in mind what you represent and who you are here for. Keep the motivation going! There will be rewards implemented within the next following weeks. Pizza next week! C. Special Thanks-to everyone who helped with homecoming! Great job! Congratulations Ed for Homecoming King! D. Office hours-office hours will be posted within the next week. I.G. letters are now in your mailbox. If you don’t have a letter, contact Sarah. If there is a scheduling conflict contact Sarah. E. Image task force-evaluating why we are called a party school. They are looking for undergraduates who are interested in being on this committee. VI. Executive President’s Report A. Ring Ceremony-Brittany needs help. She will send out an e-mail tonight with details. VII. Legislative Vice President’s Report A. All Senators meet with Sarah. B. Write Sarah a note and put it in her box if you haven’t been contacted by your I.G. by the end of the week. There will be a list, check off if you have been contacted. VIII. Vice President of Student Finance’s Report - If there are any questions are concerns, Martin would be glad to help IX . Senate Report A. Ed-Parent Award -28 nominations! B. Robert-Student Bill of Rights - A document of what our rights are. One will be posted in the office. It will be discussed next week. C. Mike McCoy -A frequently asked questions link was suggested for our website. 1. Phi Beta Lambda-Recruiting for a strong I.T. team to represent Radford. Contact Mike. 2. Food Service Hours- There are a lot of complaints about food hours. There is nothing to open 2:30-4 on Sundays. 3. A suggestion portal/ poll should be available on the website. 4. Graduation meeting will be held next week. X. Cabinet/Staff Reports- A. Webmaster - The website is now up with the forums. Let Chris know if you need updates or have suggestions. There will be an SGA picture during the next meeting. Right now it is scheduled for 4:30. Business casual (just don’t wear a sweatshirt or p.j.’s). B. Chief of Staff 1. Cabinet/Staff Meeting-after meeting 2. SGA Social-B.T.’s on the 25th of October at 6:30. 3. VA Tech SGA Conference the weekend of October 22 (Sat and Sun). 4. Emails – Let Kristin know if you are not receiving emails. XI. Council Reports A. International Student Report: 1. Halloween party. Everyone is encouraged to come. 2. Fashion show at Mary Baldwin College Nov. 11 3. Thanksgiving pot luck Nov. 13th at Selu. 4. Starting to plan for International dinner in April in Muse Banquet hall. 5. Next week all council chairs bring a council report. XII. Committee Reports A. Mainstreet Radford: Thursday late nights-They will implement later hours on Thursdays and will see how things will work. They will encourage all the business’s to participate. B. COBE committee faculty meeting-they are asking for a new building. This was moved to the table. XIII. Advisor’s Report XIV. Old Business XV. There will be a new committee formed to work on getting more off campus options for students. This was tabled. E.
