SGA Senate Meeting Minutes 10/17/05 I. Call to order at 5:05 II. Welcome III. Guests A. Ken Bonk – spoke about the history of the Bonnie, presented an official brick from the Bonnie Hurlburt Center to Stephanie and Michael IV. Approval of Minutes - approved unanimously V. President’s Report A. Main Issues - SGA members will break down into committees or subcommittees to deal with these main issues B. College Bowl – if you are interested see the email Stephanie sent out and contact her if you are interested VI. Executive Vice President’s Report A. Thank you – thanks to everyone who helped out at the ring ceremony VII. Legislative Vice President’s Report A. IGs – mark out your name on the sheet in the office if you have been contacted B. Senators – fill out paperwork and give to Heather Hash, college senators meet with deans this week VIII. Vice President of Student Finance’s Report A. If you are interested in serving on the City Police committee see Martin IX. Senate Report A. Tiffany – Graduation Committee; meeting tonight, Meeting with cab and BAP, senior’s week is being planned, lots of cool events will be held B. Tonise - RHA - Legislation for No Smoking Policy; the 20 ft away smoking policy will become enforced X. Cabinet/Staff Reports A. Chief of Staff 1. Erica passed a sheet around explaining the budget 2. Next Tuesday there will be an SGA social at BT’s @ 6:30 B. Regis – November 11, Unity Stompfest ’05, council are asked to be represented and will learn how to step, SGA members are encouraged to attend; contact Regis if you are interested. C. Secretary 1. Attendance – please let me know if you are planning be absent, if you haven’t sent me anything, I have to mark you as unexcused. Just drop me an email if you know you have to miss the meeting. Also, if you have to leave early please let me know. Just send Brian or I a note during the meeting 2. Files have been set up for all senators and council chairs. The senator files are located in last drawer of the small filing cabinet. XI. Council Reports A. ISAC 1. Thanksgiving Potluck date has been changed November 1st at Selu 2. ECS Program - Thursday, Oct. 22, 4-6pm Cultural games and sports on the fountain side of Heth B. LAC – video tour cancelled C. OCSC 1. First off-campus clean-up on Saturday at 11 Heth circle 2. Off-Campus Halloween competition - see Christy Jackson for details. XII. Committee Reports A. SAEC met but not major issues were brought forward Graduation Committee – speaker chosen XIII. Advisor’s Report – if you want DOS to collect anything, send an email to Michael. XIV. Old Business A. Graduate Senator – Chris Retolo was voted in by an unanimous senate vote B. Student Bill of Rights – a subcommittee has been formed, and was moved into the subcommittee C. CoBE Resolution – they are getting funds for the 6-year plan, they are not sure were they will be building yet – moved into a subcommittee XV. New Business 1. Meet and Greet – need SGA members to help out, an email will be sent out later on this week. 2. RUcomm – informing students on their rights with the police, a public service announcement will be sent out 3. Matt cannot attend his IG committee meetings, if you can attend the meeting, which is 3 p.m. every other Friday, contact Sarah to be put on the committee 4. Conference at tech – postponed until spring XVI. Announcements A. Member of the Week – Brad Carter has done an outstanding job recruiting students for his council and SGA. Congratulations! XVII.
