Student Government Association Senate Meeting Minutes October 16, 2006 I. Call to Order- 5:02 PM II. Approval of Minutes a. Minutes Approved III. President’s Report a. Open House- Oct 21st and Nov 11th i. We are going to have a table at 10:30 in the morning and we need volunteers to work them, Emily, Ashley, and Nikole volunteered b. Bone Marrow Drive c. Money for HASO/College Bowl i. Martin has been e-mailed and we have traditionally sponsored this event, it is an academic tournament and they have asked for SGA to donate 100 dollars to co-sponsor the event i. Motion has been made and carried by the SGA senate to donate 100 dollars to co-sponsor the HASO college bowl d. Planners i. Reminder to everyone to bring your planners to remember things and events e. Inauguration i. It went very well and thank you for those who came out and helped out f. Itech Appointment i. We have found someone to fill the vacant position, Rochelle is currently our ISAC chair and would like to take upon the Itech position, she is currently and Information Sciences major i. Motion has been made to approve Rochelle as senator a. Motion Carried ii. Rochelle has nominated Joshua Hearne who is currently the vice-president of ISAC to become the new ISAC chair for SGA i. Motion had been carried by SGA and Josh is our new ISAC chair g. College of Education Senator i. Amy Meanley is a junior in DZ and would like to become our Senator for the College of Education i. Motion has been made to approve Amy as senator a. Motion Carried h. Homecoming i. Homecoming was a big event for SGA, Ashley Hall was our Queen and Robert Barret was King and SGA won second place in the Parade IV. Executive Vice President a. Forum Ideas- Fill out Sheet i. Jen is passing around a sheet for Forum Ideas because we are trying to host one in the next couple weeks i. Issues can be from anything that is going on campus right now or anything you feel that is worthy of discussion and should be brought to the attention of the Radford Student Body V. Legislative Vice President VI. Vice President of Student Finance a. SFC met with CAB Concerts to discuss their negative balance and SFC has agreed to take the 14165.52 from their reserve account VII. Senate Report VIII. Cabinet/Staff Reports a. Chief of Staff i. Cabinet/Staff Meeting i. Nikole is passing around the binder and we have moved the social to next Monday right after the meeting at Mi Puertos b. Community Service Coordinator i. Bone Marrow Drive i. Talked to Paula Downs today and we are having a bone marrow drive November 14th and 15th from 10-4 both days, there are a little more than 100 free tests for students, we need volunteers to help work the desk and they need to be there for the entire hour that they volunteer for IX. Council Reports a. OCSC i. This Saturday on the 21st is the councils first off campus clean up and it starts at 10, OSCS will be going around cleaning up Radford and they would encourage everyone to show up and help out b. ISAC i. Open Potluck, 10/20/06 11-2 PM, Heth 130 i. ISAC is having a gathering in the multicultural office which is Heth 130 and we would like for people to attend X. Old Business XI.
