The council wants to host a program function in order to have more unity among the freshman class, they have requested one thousands dollars for the events which will be brought up in new business b. UN Day Money i. Request will be made in new business c. Office Hours i. We hope that everyone is doing their office hour and staying the full hour and please make yourself accessible to students if they have questions d. Deans Search i. We are having four dean searches coming up and we need names of people who will serve on the search committees specific to that college, arts and sciences, itec, education, waldren IV. Executive Vice President a. Check in: People, Time, Place, Ect. i. Volunteers who signed up need to be at muse banquet hall at five o clock on Friday and dress nice please V. Legislative Vice President a. Reminder i. Senators and IG’s need to fill out their reports VI. Vice President of Student Finance a. Previously Dr. Lyndhart had withdrawn his request and now he has readmitted it, SFC approved 4979.37 from the fund balance account and the itemized list will be passed around i. SGA has made a motion to approve 4979.37 from the fund balance account i. Motion was passed with all in favor and one against VII. Senate Report a. Junior Class Senator i. Highlander Olympics i. Idea has been brought up that we will hold the event in the Spring, it will include athletics, academics, artistic ability, and leadership a. Ashley needs members to serve on the committee and a list is being passed around, Ashley will also keep us posted b. Mike i. Mike has looked into a comparison of the door rates and the actual amount you pay for the meal and has come to the conclusion that you actually pay one dollar more than the actual door prices, Mike will be sending an e-mail with his findings to us as well c. Deon i. Off campus council has moved their meetings to 6 PM on Tuesdays and if you would like to be part of OCSC please let Deon know. VIII. IX. Cabinet/Staff Reports a. Chief of Staff i. Outstanding Parent Award i. The reception is going to be at four o clock on Saturday, please attend the event which will be held in Heth lounge B ii. Cabinet and Staff Meeting i. We are having a meeting afterwards iii. SGA Social Night i. We are going to have a social on October 16th on a Monday right after the meeting at Mi Puerto iv. Name Tags i. If you’re a new member please let Nikole know so she can get a name tag for you b. Diversity Awareness Coordinator i. Success of Diversity Awareness Committee Meetings i. Held a meeting last week and everything went well, all the diversity groups have been meeting and coming together ii. Request for $950 for United Nations Day from SGA i. The money will go towards food, plane tickets and lodging for special guests, and as well as several events that will be held throughout the week. a. There has been a motion to approve $950 from operating for UN Day i. Motion has been carried c. LAC i. Virginia 21 Conference i. Erin wanted to thank everyone who went with her to Richmond for the conference last week. X. Council Reports XI. Old Business a. Freshman Class Senator i. Angelica Salinas-Jones and Pebbles Sunshine Wiggins have been nominated for the position i. Angela was not here, but Pebbles talked with SGA about her qualifications and why she should be Freshman Class Senator. a. Senate voted and Pebbles is now our new Freshman Class Senator XII. New Business a. Homecoming i. We need to vote on a Hero to represent SGA for our float, send ideas to Martin and we will discuss in Exec and talk about it threw e-mail. b. Unity Stompfest i. Regis will e-mail everyone tonight and send a reply to him if your interested to set up a time when everyone can get together XIII. Announcements a. Martin i. This is the first time in six weeks that this many people have been here, this has been a productive meeting and we are looking forward to the rest of year. b. Member of the Week i.
