Student Government Association Senate Meeting Minutes October 30, 2006 I. Call to Order- 5:03 PM II. Approval of Minutes a. Minutes Approved III. President’s Report a. Registrar Candidate i. OCT 31st through NOV 2nd we are having candidates for the position come to campus and we need students to help interview them for the position from 10:45 till 11:45, first day is in 229 and the next is in 210 and the next is 229 IV. Executive Vice President a. Reminder that the parking forum is Nov 14th at 7 in the Bonnie Auditorium V. Legislative Vice President a. Binder i. Please put your reports in because they are due now that it is the end of the month VI. Vice President of Student Finance a. One Time Funding for Art Exhibition i. SFC met today and Preston Thayer came in to request a one time funding of three female artists to present at an exhibit, SFC did not approve the budget for the exhibit because it is not geared and prioritized for students, SFC also decided that it was not a beneficial event for students VII. Senate Report a. Deon i. The Phone books are in and Deon is sending a sign up sheet to help distribute the phonebooks to students VIII. Cabinet/Staff Reports a. Chief of Staff i. COSGA i. Stands for Conference on Student Government Association, Nikole wants to know how many would be interested in attending the conference which is on Feb 24th-Feb 28th ii. Cab/Staff Meeting i. Cab/Staff meeting today after the senate meeting b. Diversity Awareness Coordinator i. UN Day was a success, it was held on Tuesday and Wednesday, two of the programs had good attendance with over 100 people ii. Request for 600 dollars for "Town Hall Meeting" for Multicultural and International Student Services i. Moderator comes in and sees how diversity and multicultural issues are here at Radford University and on that night the moderator discusses ways to improve diversity on campus as well as discuss issues with students c. Athletic Promotions Coordinator i. Free pizza night Nov. 15th for Women’s Basketball against VCU.  Need 3 volunteers to help. i. Night will be mandatory for SGA members to come d. Community Service Coordinator i. Bone Marrow Drive i. India is sending around a signing up sheet to volunteer for the drive, remember that we need at least two people for each spot and you must stay for the full hour IX. Council Reports X. Absentee Ballots have a deadline of tomorrow Oct 31st at 5 PM, www.sve.va.gov/cms then click on absentee voting and then click on your local registrars office to find the ways you can fax them in e. Lobbying trip applications are still available so please think about filing one out and f. On November 11th at 6 PM, SGA will be co-sponsoring a Unity Stompfest and Regis would like participate in this event that brings organizations together g.
