Student Government Association Senate Meeting Minutes October 9, 2006 I. Call to Order-5:04 PM II. Approval of Minutes a. Minutes Approved III. President’s Report a. SCHEV i. Martin went to a SCHEV meeting and if anyone is interested about the information they talked about regarding sexual predators, base budget adequacy, and retention. b. Bone Marrow i. SGA did a drive last year for Patrick Moore and just a heads up we will talk about it more because we are going to be doing it again this year. c. Inauguration (Symposium) i. We encourage everyone to attend the inauguration and symposium, Martin has tickets for the Symposium which is at 3:30 and the inauguration at 10:00 AM d. Education Appointment i. Already discussed IV. Executive Vice President a. Thanks to everyone who volunteered and helped out with the Ring Ceremony, the ceremony went very well and thanks to everyone V. Legislative Vice President a. The binder is going around for the senators, senators need to have their September report in b. There are a few open senate positions and we are looking for outstanding individuals to fill these positions for College of Education and Human Development, the Waldron College, the College of Arts and Sciences, and College of Information and Technologies VI. Vice President of Student Finance VII. Senate Report a. Amber i. Amber needs volunteers for the kids carnival this Saturday b. Ashley i. Ashley is sending around the Highlander Olympics sign up sheet again so please sign up for the committee VIII. Cabinet/Staff Reports a. Secretary i. American Heart Association Heart Walk i. Received Information from PHC about the walk and they are either looking for donations and/or for a SGA team to participate in the walk ii. Office Hours i. Everyone needs to make sure they sign in for their hour and actually do their office hour b. Honors Promotion Coordinator i. Thanks to everyone who helped with Honors and Ethics Week with passing out ribbons, the week was a huge success c. Nikole i. No cab/staff meeting today d. Lee i. Has gotten some things for the homecoming float and Lee needs some more volunteers with the float, Meredith Margaret and Andrea have volunteered ii. We also need some volunteers to help set up the float, Lee will take names and will e-mail further information to those individuals iii. We need 10% of SGA to show up for the Highlander challenge IX.
