Student Government Association Senate Meeting Minutes November 6th, 2006 I. Call to Order- 5:02 PM II. Approval of Minutes a. Minutes Approved III. President’s Report a. Budgets i. We have to approve SGA’s three budgets as well as councils budgets b. SFC i. On November 27th SGA has their meeting with SFC for their budget hearing IV. Executive Vice President a. Reminder that forum is November 14th in the bonnie and it is about parking issues V. Legislative Vice President a. Survey Committee i. Dining services committee met last week and a survey is going and we would ask you to fill it out ii. The main street committee met last week and they have come up with a list of things already on main street and also things that we would like to see there. VI. Vice President of Student Finance a. SFC did not meet today but will start budgets hearings next week VII. Senate Report a. COBE i. Met with dean and talked about the hiring of new employees as well as other issues for the college VIII. Cabinet/Staff Reports a. Chief of Staff i. Budget Hearing 1. Nikole has passed around the budget and it shows the increase and decrease in each account as well as a line by line assessment of specific accounts. If anyone is concerned about the numbers Nikole would be happy to answer your questions b. Secretary i. Parking Committee Report c. LAC i. Voting on Tuesday 1. Please vote tomorrow and the polls close tomorrow at 7 ii. Applications for Richmond Trip 1. Please turn in your application and the due date is the 13th d. Junior Class Senator i. Highlander Olympics Committee Meeting 1. Ashley has passed around a sheet with all the changes that have been made for the event, the event will be held on March 31st and the winners would receive computers, changes in categories consist of more general categories and athletics has been divided into male and female. e. Honors Promotion Coordinator i. Committee Report 1. The Undergraduate Catalog and curriculum review committee met on Friday and approved three new courses as well as one had prerequisite changes, see Matt for further details on changes f. Diversity Awareness Coordinator i. Approval of 700 dollars for Monica Hunter's "Safe to Relate: Town Hall Meeting" for Multicultural Services 1. The event will be held on Monday February 26th at 6 PM in the Heth Ballroom, a trained moderator comes in to Radford and talks with students as well as administration about the diversity on campus and later on that night they hold a forum in which the discussion consists of their findings as well as changes that can be made. Each budget has to be approved individually i. 17080 in our current operating budget account and this year we are requesting 19570, the increase is due to FYC and cost of travel 1. Motion has been made to approve budget proposal a. Motion Carried ii. Contingency Budget 1. Motion has been made to approve request of 4000 dollars for SGA’s contingency budget a. Motion Carried iii. Publicity 1. There is a increase of 400 dollars in this account due to the brochure costs moving from contingency to this account also we decreased in promotional items. a. Motion has been made to approve a request of 2705 for SGA’s publicity budget iv. APC 1. We moved 500 dollars from promotional items into expenses for the athletic promotions council in the new proposed budget. a. Motion has been made to approve 2900 dollars for APC’s proposed budget v. LAC 1. This budget increased due to the cost of travel and other expenses incurred throughout the year a. Motion has been made to approve a budget of 8520 for LAC’s proposed budget i. Motion Carried vi. ISAC 1. Motion has been made to approve 9610 for ISAC’s proposed budget a. Motion Carried vii. BSAC 1. Motion has been made to approve 6025 for BSAC’s proposed budget a. Motion Carried viii. OCSC 1. Motion has been made to approve 3155 for OCSC’s proposed budget XII. Announcements a. We will discuss the issue of the school changing official colors next week after we contact the administration b. All the phone books are still in the office so we would like to ask everyone to grab a stack and distribute them c. Unity Stompfest will be on this Saturday and we encourage SGA to come out and support it at 6PM in the Heth Ballroom d. Bone Marrow Drive i.
