Student Government Association Senate Meeting Agenda August 28th, 2006 I. Call to Order II. Approval of Minutes a. Minutes approved III. President’s Report a. Update on Inauguration i. SGA members are encouraged to attend the inauguration ii. Please start thinking about questions for our guest speakers and spread the word to other students as well, turn in the questions to SGA b. Update on Homeland Security Conference i. Registration is required for the lunch-in but not for the other activities throughout the day. c. Office Hours i. Sheet is going around the table to sign up for office hours, hours will go into effect next week d. Homecoming i. Please be thinking of homecoming ideas as we will vote on the theme next week e. Community Service i. Start thinking about projects and suggesting ideas that we can do f. VA21 Update i. Please check into the issue of cheaper text books IV. Executive Vice President a. Info Sheet i. Please fill out the information on the sheet and hand it back to Jen Webber V. Legislative Vice President a. Elections i. Information is being passed around about the upcoming elections, please spread the word about the vacant positions too ii. We need to put together an electoral board for the upcoming elections, if anyone is interested please see Andrea. VI. Vice President of Student Finance a. Student Leader Compensation Budget i. $6282 has been approved for the Student Leader Compensation by SFC to cover the 13% increase in tuition and SGA needs to approve the motion as well ii. Motion for $6282 to be added to the Student Leader Compensation to cover the 13% increase in tuition from contingency has been approved by the senate. VII. Senate Report a. Mike i. Mike has researched information regarding the flex jr. meal plan and has discovered that there is a significant difference in the money you are allocated versus the money you pay ii. The recreation club here at RU is hosting a floating down the river contest, if you have any ideas about a float please send them to Mike. b. Meredith i. Student media is in need of graphic designers and sales people, if anyone is interested or knows anyone who would be please contact Meredith VIII. Cabinet/Staff Reports a. Chief of Staff i. Outstanding Parent Award 1. We need a committee to judge the Outstanding parent award, Please see Nikole if you would like to be a judge ii. Meeting 1. Cabinet/Staff will have a meeting directly after the SGA meeting adjournment b. Secretary i. Agenda 1. Have all agenda items to Joe by 12:00 PM on Monday IX. Council Reports a. Graduate Student Council i. The Graduate Student Council held an event for graduate students in which they had their biggest turn out with 70 grad students in attendance.
