Student Government Association Senate Meeting Agenda September 25th, 2006 I. Call to Order-5:05 II. Approval of Minutes a. Minutes approved III. President’s Report a. Ruckus i. Online downloading service that is legal and free, one of the principles is that the files aren’t transferable or portable so should we still look into obtaining it? Request for the bid must state specifically what we want and from there companies will come in and make bids based upon those requirements. Martin would like SGA to come up with a list of ideas and features we would want out of a program and send them to Martin. b. Symposium i. Martin encourages for us to tell our friends to submit questions to SGA for the symposium IV. Executive Vice President a. Reminder for Ring Ceremony Volunteers i. Volunteers will meet Oct 6th in the Muse ballroom to help out with the ceremony V. Legislative Vice President a. IG list has been passed around and it will be submitted to Dr. Lerch, if any changes need to be made contact Andrea i. IG was approved by SGA to be submitted as it is written to Dr. Lerch b. Senators need to remember to write reports from the college in the notebook c. Aaron Bitler resigned from freshman class senator, Angelica Salinas-Jones and Pebbles Sunshine Wiggins were nominated for the position i. Issue has been tabled until next week VI. Vice President of Student Finance a. SFC met and is in the process of completing the time line and the budgets for this year. b. SFC approved 1600 dollars for Radio Free Radford which was a one time fund request for promotional items, membership to an organization, and expenses for a conference i. Motion has been brought to SGA to approve the 1600 dollars for Radford Free Radio i. Motion was approved by the SGA senate VII. Senate Report a. College of Information, Science, and Technologies i. Dean Report i. The college needs to look into the academics of incoming students here at Radford and specifically the issue of pre-majors ii. The advertising was great this summer but Mike thinks we should look into advertising our achievements and statistics iii. Mike thinks we should change the hours we look at when it comes to failing school because he believes it is dragging down the improvement of our university ii. Office Computers i. Will look into the issue of only one computer out of three in the office has internet access iii. Office Door Card Swipe i. The card swipe has not been working for several SGA members, problem will be passed on o office maintenance b. Homecoming kids carnival i. Look out for an e-mail from Amber about the carnival and volunteering VIII. Cabinet/Staff Reports a. LAC i. VA 21 Chapter Meeting and Voting Drive i. VA 21 meeting is tonight at 7:00, we encourage everyone to attend ii. Absentee Ballot i. Table will be outside the Bonnie from September 27th through October 4th and we need volunteers to work the table to help people fill out the forms and hand them out b. Honors Promotion Coordinator i. Honors and Ethics Week Update i. Matt needs volunteers to sign up to help pass out ribbons next Tuesday and Thursday in Heth circle c. Chief of Staff i. Outstanding parent award i. Committee met and chose the recipient and the award will be given out Saturday IX. Council Reports a. ISAC i. Passport Night b. BSAC i. Has filled ii. Black Alumni weekend is coming up this week starting this Friday through Sunday c. OCSC i. Wednesday at 6:15 is there meeting so if you are interested in joining please come X. Old Business XI. New Business a. Unity Stompfest-Regis i. A step show that promotes unity among the students here at Radford. Regis needs volunteers to organize a step group to participate in the event on November 11th at 6:00PM in the Heth ballroom. XII. Announcements a. Outstanding Member of the Week i.
