Student Government Association Senate Meeting Retreat Minutes January 13th, 2007 I. Call to Order- 12:40 II. Approval of Minutes a. Minutes will be presented at our formal meeting on Monday January 22 III. President’s Report a. Sportsmanship i. Martin met with Dr. Pomerantz and discussed the issue of RU sportsmanship, they would like to see better sportsmanship shown at games from the student body b. Parking Resolution i. Martin has drafted a resolution for parking, it will be brought up in new business c. Landlord Resolution i. Martin plans to draft a resolution to present to the area landlords about the current problems students have with them d. Councils i. Councils need to spend their appropriated budget for the year and make sure no money is left over IV. Executive Vice President a. Jen would like to thank everyone for coming to the retreat and if anyone has forum ideas please send them to her V. Legislative Vice President a. Constitution Revision i. Graduating seniors will now be eligible for the graduate senator position b. Elections i. Elections are coming up soon, packets are available starting Feb 9th ,there is an info session on Feb 12th and 13th, the packets are due on Feb 23rd, the presidential debate will be held on Feb 28th, and elections are going to be held on March 6th and 7th VI. Vice President of Student Finance a. SFC approved a one time fund request of 6311 dollars for the Appalachian Events Committee for their upcoming show VII. Senate Report VIII. Cabinet/Staff Reports IX. Council Reports a. LAC i. 25 students and 2 faculty members are going on the legislative advocacy trip ii. Jan 22nd at 1 PM is the next meeting for the attendees of the trip and if you have any questions please e-mail Erin b. APC i. This Thursday at 7PM there will be another free pizza night for the basketball game at Dedmon X. Old Business a. Constitution Revision i. Electoral Board Nominations i. Rob, Sabrina, Jenny, Emily, Leigh, Paul, and Erin have all been nominated and passed to serve on the electoral board XII. Announcements a. At 6:30 in the Heth plaza there will be a candle light vigil for the MLK day celebration, the program will start at 7:00 PM at the Bonnie b. The graduate college is moving from Preston hall to Lucas hall c. SGA is looking for a new historian and public relations coordinator for the semester, please inform anyone if you think they would interested XIII. Adjournment
