Student Government Association Senate Meeting Minutes March 19, 2007 I. Call to Order- 5:05 PM II. Approval of Minutes a. Minutes Approved b. Kristen Swanson i. Associate Director of Student Activities and advisor to CAB/BAP, she wants to promote their upcoming concert which is O.A.R., tickets go on sale to students this Thursday and they are 15 dollars, the show is April 9th at the Dedmon center, she wants to heavily promote this event so please tell everyone and get the word out. III. President’s Report a. Cords i. Seniors will be getting cords this year to wear at graduation b. BOV i. There is going to be a BOV meeting next Thursday at 11 AM, it is very important that they newly elected exec and senators attend the meeting c. Elections i. Congratulations to everyone who won and we are sure they will do a great job next year d. Photograph April 2nd at 5 O’clock i. SGA will be having their picture taken at 5 o’clock in front of the Bonnie e. Dr. Lerch i. UGCRC met and decided to delete certain classes from the general education curriculum because they are very specific to the majors and should not be included general education f. Relay for Life i. SGA needs a sponsored team for the Relay of Life, April 13th, please see Ashley if you are interested IV. Executive Vice President a. Spring Banquet i. Mandatory on Tuesday April 24th from 5-7 PM at the Bondurant Center which is on Main Street, Jen is sending around an envelope for can you imagines, she also needs people to be nominated for awards V. Legislative Vice President a. Run-off Elections i. Run-off elections will be held at the same times this week which is tomorrow and Wednesday and are for EVP and Sophomore Class Senator ii. Electoral Board needs to stay after the meeting iii. Next week there will be a senator meeting next week VI. Vice President of Student Finance a. SAEC-Illegal Downloading i. Met last week to discuss the issue of illegal downloading, they came up with a list of offenses and consequences, Please see Regis is you would like to know the complete list of violations and their consequences b. Budget Hearings i. Greek/Scholarly Travel 1. Both Greek Life and Scholarly Travel are asking for increases. Greek life is introducing several new programs such as TIPS, a new rush software service, and Greek Newspaper. Scholarly travel is asking for an increase as the number of students wanting to be reimbursed for travel is increasing. See Regis if you need want more information. VII. Senate Report a. Junior Class i. Relay for Life 1. April 13th, we are going to have an SGA sponsored team b. Pebbles i. Wants to thank everyone who stopped by and came out for AIDS awareness week and they had over 100 people that signed their table VIII. Cabinet/Staff Reports a. Secretary i. E-Mails 1. Please contact Joe if you are not receiving the e-mails from the list serve b. Nikole i. There will be another SGA social this year at Mi Puertos and Nikole will let you know soon IX. Old Business X. New Business XI. Announcements a. Regis and Omar will be getting together to host another Dodging for Diversity tournament, it was a huge success last year and a lot of people came out b.
