Every class and every college has a senator on SGA. This person is your voice, and is supposed to actively seek out your opinion on legislative matters. If you want to be heard, contacting one of your representatives below is a great place to start.
Hi, I am a junior from Christiansburg and I am your off campus senator. I am dedicated to improving and keeping the relationships between you and the realtors of Radford.
This is my first year in SGA. My hobbies are soccer, being outdoors, and meeting new people.
Let’s have a great year!
Hi RU! I will be serving as your 2009-2010 On-Campus Senator. My mission is to help all RU organizations and residence halls to promote RU’s living and working environment. I will work with the Residence Hall Association and bring back any concerns to SGA. I want RU residents to know that I, as well as SGA, will be there to listen and find a solution to any concerns they have and also to help plan fun events to help get the RU community more involved.
I also want to help increase school spirit even more than we did this past year, and get more students involved around campus.
I am a sophomore and an International Finance and Spanish major here at RU. As well as being involved with SGA, I am also La Sociedad Hispanica’s secretary, a member of the Green Team, Red Cross, the Psychology Club, and I have held a work study position as a programming assistant in Muse.
I hope to get more involved with RU organizations over the next few years, and help represent Radford University in a respectful and proud manner. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me. Have a great year, and the best of luck to all upcoming freshmen.
I oversee everything that the senior class does throughout our senior year, including 100 days ‘til graduation celebration, senior week and commencement. I want to make sure that seniors get involved this year. I'm going to try to reach out to as many seniors as I can to get their ideas on what would make their senior year great. I'm also going to try to institute a senior week in December too, so that our December grads get the same benefits that the May grads do. I am majoring in Political Science, with an Anthropology minor. I am in Phi Sigma Sigma and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Hi Radford! As your Junior Class Senator, I hope to bring more involvement of the junior class. I am planning on having a variety of socials, job fairs, and community service programs. I can't wait to make this year even better than last year! Around campus, I am involved in American Society of Interior Designers, Canterbury House, Fashion Society, and Alpha Kappa Psi's Social Chair. To see what else I'm up to, please join the RU Class of 2011 Facebook group. GO HIGHLANDERS!
My roll is to represent the sophomore class by being the voice of our class. I would like to organize many events that will not only bring the sophomore class together, but the entire student body as a whole. I would also like to increase support for our athletics by encouraging school spirit. I am really excited to represent you this year. If anyone has any ideas, complaints or suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact me. I am a Sociology major, and in Men Of Standards, NAACP, and BSAC. I also love running!
My responsibilities in SGA include meeting with Dean Shoemaker to talk about changes in SGA as well as the College of Education and Human Development, and serving on the Professional Education Committee. This year I would like to involve the College of Education and Human Development in more forums that apply to us, as well as involve the college in the Home for the Holidays program. I am a junior majoring in Special Education – High Incidence Disabilities, with a concentration in English, and I have a Dance minor. I am Alpha Phi Omega Alphamaster, and Kappa Delta Pi Treasurer.
My job is to represent everyone in my college's voice as well as serving on many different committees such as Planning and Budget and Dining Services. I have a lot of goals for our SGA and my number one thing is to help increase communication between students and the administration. If there is anything about RU that you would like to change or be a part of the development, please get your voices heard and be a part of SGA! I am a senior Political Science major with a concentration in American Government, and a Communications minor. I am involved in a ton of things at RU, but one of my favorite things is being a University 100 teacher!
I am one of the two senators for the College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences. My goal for this year is to represent my fellow students by having more student involvement in the decisions that are made by our university. I hope to make a difference and bring about positive change!
I'm a sophomore from Fairfax, Va. I'm a History and Social Science major and a Spanish minor. I am a member of NSCS, and am working towards becoming a lead scholar.
My motto: "Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it turned into a beautiful butterfly." - Unknown
My position is a very open one, because I'm not
representing a class or a school – I'm at
large. I try to fill the needs of any student. If
you have general questions you’re not sure
who to go to about, your can contact an at-large
senator. I plan to head the Highlander Olympics
this year, and help with a new event called What Do
You Want Wednesdays. I also serve on the Clubs and Organizations
Committee, which reviews the constitutions of
up coming clubs.
SGA is an asset that is not nearly used to its full
potential. In order to do so, we will do our best,
but we also need the student body to do your best
to meet us halfway by telling us what you
want.
I am a sophomore Biology major, and also plan on
taking on a second major. Ultimately I want to be
able to go to law school. I am in Residence Hall
Association, COCO, Honors Academy, and National
Collegiate Honors society.
My motto: "What lies before us
and what lies behind us are tiny matters compared
to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo
Emerson
It is my responsibility to be the voice of the students and work with all of SGA and the student body to better Radford in every way possible. I will stay very active in all of SGA’s events and I will promote the school and SGA the best I can. I would like to create more school spirit and I would like to work with both the SGA and RHA to create school wide activities and help bring the students’ ideas to the table and hopefully get as many good ideas into play as possible. I am here for you. I will be your voice and I will listen to everything and try my best to represent you to the best of my ability. I’m a sophomore majoring in Psychology, Leadership Coordinator in Residence Hall Association, and a member of Alpha Sigma Tau.
My motto: I believe in trying your best and even if you fail, try to learn from your mistakes and try again.
If you are a current Radford University student, then you are a member of the Student Government Association. Our student body is governed by students, for students. The university exists for the benefit of students. We deserve to, and do, have influence in university-wide policies and student activity funding.
SGA is the voice of the student body. And we cannot be your voice without your help. So look around our website, get familiar with some of the things we do, and contact us whenever you have questions, ideas, or concerns; need guidance on university procedures; need help with an event; or just want to say hi. All of us working together will make Radford a truly special place and a life-changing experience.
This year SGA endeavors to closely listen to student
opinion and be a channel for open communication between
students and the administration and faculty. We’re
taking a hands-on approach to achieving goals like
increasing school spirit, sustainability, diversity
awareness, and service on campus. We also sponsor many
fun events ranging from Homecoming to the Highlander
Olympics. We believe in open access to information,
student leadership, integrity, excellence, and constantly
bettering RU and the student experience.
