Hey Highlanders! My name is Matt Clem and I'm honored to be your Student Body President for the 2009-2010 academic year. I am a senior from Catharpin, Va. majoring in Psychology and minoring in Criminal Justice, and I am extremely proud to be a Highlander. I love playing guitar, I enjoy sports of all types, and I have a soft place in my heart for baked goods.
I am looking forward to being able to make a lasting impact on students and on the university as an institution. Although SGA has an over-arching strategic plan, I've developed three goals of my own I intend to see accomplished on campus this year:
As your umbrella student organization, SGA is aiming high this year in representing the students to the administration and faculty while maintaining our focus on providing a better university environment for you, the students. This is a daunting task because we can't do this alone - we need your help. We need your input on what to do, and we intend to do everything we can to survey you all to understand what it is that you want.
You should also know that you all are already members of SGA, simply being students at the university. So get involved with what we want to do!
I'm humbled to be in the position I am, and I want to emphasize my commitment to first and foremost serving the student body. Please if you have questions, suggestions, comments, or if you just want to meet up for any reason and discuss anything with me, feel free to email me at maclem@radford.edu or sga@radford.edu.
Hey Highlanders!
As your Executive Vice President, I am here to make
sure the SGA is working to serve the students with
the best of our ability! Along with working closely
with the Student Body President and the other
Executive Board members, I work towards promoting
SGA, planning events that benefit everyone on
campus, and overall bettering the campus as a
whole!
I truly love Radford University and can't wait to
serve you this upcoming year. I'm always open to
suggestions, so feel free to contact me.
My role as Legislative Vice President is to supervise the Senate and
oversee the SGA constitution. This year, I hope to
help motivate the Senate as well as build upon
innovative ways of representing the student
body.
I am a junior majoring in Biology and Chemistry.
My motto: "Plan Purposefully, Prepare Prayerfully, Proceed Positively, and Pursue Persistently."
I oversee the Student Finance Committee, which, along with Student Affairs, provides budgets for all student clubs, organizations, and activities. I am also on the SGA recycling committee, Planning and Budget Committee, and fitness and wellness center committee.
This year I would really like to help increase the
amount of recycling we do on campus, as well as
make SGA more prominent on campus and help students
realize the importance of SGA. Voicing your
concerns and ideas is very important to the SGA and
can help make a difference on RU’s
campus.
I am a junior, and in Delta Zeta, Recycling
Committee, and intramural sports.
My motto: Get involved, have an opinion, make a difference.
If you are a current Radford University student, then you are a member of the Student Government Association. Our student body is governed by students, for students. The university exists for the benefit of students. We deserve to, and do, have influence in university-wide policies and student activity funding.
SGA is the voice of the student body. And we cannot be your voice without your help. So look around our website, get familiar with some of the things we do, and contact us whenever you have questions, ideas, or concerns; need guidance on university procedures; need help with an event; or just want to say hi. All of us working together will make Radford a truly special place and a life-changing experience.
This year SGA endeavors to closely listen to student
opinion and be a channel for open communication between
students and the administration and faculty. We’re
taking a hands-on approach to achieving goals like
increasing school spirit, sustainability, diversity
awareness, and service on campus. We also sponsor many
fun events ranging from Homecoming to the Highlander
Olympics. We believe in open access to information,
student leadership, integrity, excellence, and constantly
bettering RU and the student experience.
